Should hereafter appertain to Your Lordship for similar consideration. It would be gratefully felt in this Colony, which is suffering very much from the terrible visitation with which it has been suddenly afflicted - 36X. The Government and Community, as I have stated in this Dispatch as well as publicly, are deeply indebted to the Military and Naval Forces, and specially to the Colonel of the Shropshire Regiment, for the assistance they have rendered, and deeply regret the loss of the gallant officer, Captain Issey, and several private soldiers who have fallen victims to the plague. To Lieutenant Francis L. De Wint, Dr Mitchell, Dr Kirk, Captain Hastings, Dr Cook, Dr Tooker, and Mr ... Many others, including Volunteers, the Government is also under great obligations. I may say that several public Officers, and especially the Medical Staff and all the Staff of the Public Works Department, are doing additional duty unhesitatingly, single-handedly, and with a desire to aid in the repression of a disease which has never before been experienced in this hitherto prosperous Colony - 37&.

In conclusion, I have the hope that Your Lordship will approve of my proceedings described in this and previous Dispatches on the same subject.

I have the honour to be,

By Express,

Your Lordship's most obedient,

humble servant,

(Signed) William Robinson

The Marquess of Ripon,

Secretary of State for the Colonies.
